Amazon Prime Day 2019

Amazon Prime Day is here! Whether you want to stock up on your favorite products or maybe splurge on that one item you’ve been eyeing, Prime Day is a great day to score some great deals on Amazon!

What Is Prime Day?

Prime Day is a two day event held around the world for Amazon Prime members to get the best deals on top rated products.

Think Black Friday, but in July.

There will be thousands of items marked down in price, with featured items like the Amazon Fire Stick and Alexa products at some of the lowest prices of the year. Even regular household products will be included in the markdowns so you can stock up on your favorites when they are the best deals!

The only catch is you have to be an Amazon Prime member, otherwise the deals will not apply to you. If you are not a prime member you can sign up for a 30 day trial and still take advantage of the Prime Day promotions. I highly recommend keeping Amazon Prime after the 30 days though, I use it for EVERYTHING!

When Is Prime Day?

Prime Day officially starts on Monday, July 15 at midnight PT, and continue through Tuesday, July 16. Prime Day is the best time to shop, so if you’ve been on the fence about a certain product or waiting to stock up on your favorites, then I recommend doing it on these two days. Be sure to mark your calendars or set a reminder because these deals will last for 48 hours only.

How Does Prime Day Work?

One drawback of Prime Day is they don’t give you a lot of heads up as to what some of the deals will be until the actual event. They will offer up lightning deals, which are deals that only last for a limited time, and spotlight deals, which feature deep discounts on top brands and popular items in each category. Spotlight deals last longer than lightning deals so they are usually easier to catch, but if you have your eyes on a lightning deal, you can set your account up to watch it and notify you when it goes live. I like to just browse through the website and search specific items I’ve had my eye on to see if they are on sale.

Amazon has not released a list of specific products that will be discounted so since I can’t offer you a list of deals that will happen beforehand, here are some of the most popular discounted products from last years Prime Day that are sure to be featured again this year:

1. Amazon Fire Stick With Alexa Voice Remote

With the Amazon Fire TV Stick, you can stream media to any TV with an HDMI input. Services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, Showtime, Hulu and Sling are all available in addition to Amazon Prime Video. With the Alexa remote, you can control the TV with your voice. Plus the Stick is small enough to take with you when you travel, so you can plug it into a hotel TV, too. They are offering the Fire Stick plus 2 free months of HBO for $39.99 this year. We bought this and absolutely love it!

2. Instant Pot Multi Cooker

The Instant Pot is multi use cooker that eliminates the need for several separate appliances. It’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, cake maker, egg cooker, sauté pan, steamer, warmer, and sterilizer. It also has 16 smart programs, which include Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Cake, Egg, and Slow Cook, among others. This is on my list to watch for this year!

3. 23andMe DNA Test

This is an easy-to-use at-home kit, no membership required. It gives your personalized ancestry reports based on your DNA and is ready in about 6-8 weeks. This one was super popular last year.

Amazon Echo (2nd generation)

Echo is a smart speaker that can connect to Alexa to play music, make calls, set music alarms and timers, ask questions, control smart home devices, and more. It can go over your calendar, give you traffic and news updates, manage shopping lists and control compatible smart home devices. It’s like a personal assistant connected to your home!

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd generation)

The Echo Dot is basically a mini version of the Echo. It has the same Alexa capabilities but with a smaller speaker.

My Personal Recommendations

I have a list of recommended products that I love to get from Amazon and use regularly. You can access this list here and make sure to check back on Prime Day and see if they end up discounted further!
