I have always had a love of the world around us and supported protecting our planet. From a young age, I found myself reading books about the environment and being involved in sustainability. Reading about the environment is a wonderful way learn about the importance of protecting our planet.

Silent Spring by Rachel Carson
Published in 1962, Silent Spring is widely considered one of the most influential environmental books ever written. I remember reading this book as a teen and finding it to be very meaningful. Rachel Carson studied the effects of pesticides, particularly DDT, on wildlife and ecosystems and noted the damages that it was causing. Her work was a huge part of the environmental movement and raised awareness.
