I have been to Cancun, Mexico many times, and got married at an all-inclusive on the Mayan Riviera. We have stayed on the hotel strip and have also ventured to other parts of the Yucatan. Here are some tips for visiting Cancun.
Do Research When Choosing Your Accommodations
There are so many different kinds of places you can stay in Cancun and beyond. You can stay right in the beach hotel zone near the Cancun Airport, or you can venture a little southward. There are hotels right on the beaches, and others on the bay side.
There are also many types of hotels, from a Cancun All Inclusive to airBnbs. An all inclusive guarantees that everything will be taken care of, from Cancun Airport Transfers to dining and more. With other types of lodging, you will have to figure out a plan and a budget for food and drink.
Be Aware of Seaweed Issues
Sargassum seaweed has become an increasing issue in Cancun. Some months of the year, seaweed clogs the beaches, making the water uninviting and the beach takes on a terrible smell if the seaweed removal is not thorough.
Pools and Beaches
Staying in Mexico means there are plenty of pools and beaches to visit. Do your research so you know what to expect.
Water temperatures can be cool during the cooler months, so you might want to see if your resort has heated pools. If you have young children, having a variety of pools including children’s pools may be your best bet.
Beaches can vary as far as quality, from calm, shallow beaches to ones with more intense waves. Further down the coast you can find areas such as Akumal, which offers protected grassy areas where you can swim with sea turtles.
Take Advantage of What Mexico Has to Offer
Mexico has so many wonderful things to offer, from culture to history to food. You may want to factor these experiences into your stay, such as taking a bus trip to see Chichen-Itza.
Pack Wisely
Be sure to pack for a variety of possibilities, from cooler evenings to snorkeling.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, which is more eco-friendly for marine life. If you plan on snorkeling, bring a snorkel and mask, and possibly water shoes.
Depending on where you stay, you may want to pack dressy clothes for fancy dinners or special occasions.
Do Your Research
Before booking your trip, make sure you do thorough research. This includes everything from Cancun Airport Transportation to get you to and from your hotel, to prioritizing your excursions. The more you are prepared, the more smoothly your trip will go and it will be more enjoyable and relaxing.
