Our family has visited Mexico numerous times. A big part of visiting Mexico is going to the beautiful beaches! To make the most of your trip and your vacation time, it is good to be as prepared as possible. Here are some tips for visiting the beaches in Mexico.
Travel During the Right Season
Temperatures can vary in Mexico, as well as weather conditions and tourism. Consider what is the best fit for you. Wintertime is a great time to escape the winter doldrums in places like the Northeast US, while temperatures can be comfortable to cool in Mexico. Spring break and summers can be very hot with lots of tourists, fall has the possibility for hurricanes.
Be Prepared for Sargassum (Seaweed)
Seaweed has been a problem in recent years, and it is good to check out the seaweed forecast.
Use Sun Protection and Reef Safe Sunscreen
Sun protection is very important in Mexico. While you might feel sun deprived when you leave for your vacation, don’t let yourself end up with a sunburn. Practice sun safety with sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, rash guards, and more. Also bring after-sun to treat any sunburns.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen to protect both your skin and the environment.

Underwater Camera
Capture those special moments by using an underwater camera! You can find good cases for your phone, or find a waterproof camera.
Water Shoes
Plan ahead if you think you might need water shoes for your trip.
Swim and snorkel gear
Bring swim gear, and if you think you are going to go snorkeling, bring a snorkel. Fins are easy to find, but your own snorkel and mask can make for a good experience instead of fussing with a used snorkel that doesn’t fit well on your face.
Respect the environment and wildlife
Wherever you travel, respect nature. Give wildlife space, such as sea turtles. Avoid touching the reef or other fragile ecosystems.

I love Mexico, but I only go during the winter. I cannot stand the crowds and the rowdy young folks that flock there in the summer. LOL.
I’ve not visited Mexico before. But the beaches sound great! I love the idea of snorkelling with an underwater camera.

My mom has been to Mexico beaches often when she would take cruises. She loved going there.

I am looking forward to doing this again, hopefully soon. An underwater camera is a great idea, we regretted not having taken one last time that we were there!
checking that seaweed forecast is a total necessity before booking any coastal trip these days. Avoiding a nasty sunburn by packing reef safe lotion makes the whole experience way better for both your skin and the ocean.
