Elderflower Tea

My daughter visited Europe and brought me back a gift of Holunder tea, which is popular in places like France and Switzerland.

I enjoy elderberry tea, but I had never had Holunder, which is elderberry flower tea.

This is a lovely tea, with a light taste, and health benefits as well.

Ingredients

~ 16 oz water
~ 2 tablespoons dried elderflowers
~ Sweetener, if desired (I recommend local honey)

Directions

Heat 16 oz water.

Steep the elderflowers for 5 minutes.

I use a stainless steel tea strainer, but you can find paper tea bags or other methods of steeping.

Strain, add sweetener if desired.

Allow to cool, and serve.

  1. How cool that your daughter brought back Holunder tea from Europe; it’s like a sip of France and Switzerland in a cup! I’m a fan of elderberry tea, but Holunder sounds intriguing and light—can’t wait to try it.

This is the first time I heard about this kind of flower and be taken as a tea. I can say its nice based on the description you have given to us.

  3. This sounds wonderful and I would for sure love to give this delicious sounding tea a try. Love that it is delicious and looks really good!

  4. I wish that I could try this tea. But since I’m on immunosuppressants I can’t take anything that will alter my immune system. It will counteract my medication.
