How To Get Longer Thicker Eyelashes Naturally

Long, thick lashes are probably one of the most sought after facial features by women everywhere.

There are TONS of products marketing this in the form of lengthening mascaras, which are temporary – lash extensions, which destroys your natural lashes – and lash growth serums, which are full of toxic ingredients you don’t want anywhere near your eyes.

My husband happens to have very dark, long eyelashes and my two boys inherited them (why do boys always have the best eyelashes?), so I wanted to make a serum to encourage lash growth because I was NOT going to be the only one in our house with average lashes!

I noticed after using this DIY lash growth serum for only a couple weeks that my lashes were significantly thicker and longer and when I put mascara on, it looked like I had gotten lash extensions!

I am so happy with this lash serum and the best part is it’s only made up of three ingredients!

What’s In This DIY Lash Growth Serum?

Castor Oil

Castor oil has long been used for promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss and it also has incredible antibacterial and antifungal properties.

It also is very moisturizing so while promoting hair growth, it also gives your lashes much needed moisture that it doesn’t get elsewhere.

Cedarwood Oil

Cedarwood Oil has a long reputation for promoting hair growth, in fact, an accredited study carried out by Department of Dermatology in Foresterhill, Scotland in 1998 tested various essential oils, including cedarwood essential oil, on people suffering from hair loss.

The subjects were treated using essential oils diluted in carrier oil, which were massaged into their scalps.

The results were pretty significant. Over 7 months, subjects in the control group (who were massaged with carrier oil alone) saw a 15% improvement in hair loss, while subjects who were massaged with essential oils showed almost 50% improvement in hair loss.

This is enough to make me want to keep using it!

Lavender Oil

Lavender Oil has very similar properties to cedarwood in this serum. It is very versatile and great for hair growth, but it’s also an antibacterial oil.

I use lavender in almost everything beauty related because it has so many beneficial properties for hair, skin and nails.
