What is a simmer pot? This is an easy way to make your home smell absolutely amazing! I love fall because it starts to get cooler and I start embracing that cozy feel. I really like fall scents like cinnamon, and this simmer pot is so easy to put together. Not only that, but simmer pots are eco-friendly and a safe alternative to synthetic fragrances – this is all natural.
Simply fill up a pot with about 8 cups of water. Add the ingredients and simmer for a couple of hours. I also like the humidity that the simmering brings to my house. When we turn on the furnace, I find myself wanting that little bit of humidity wherever I can get it.

Ingredients
Note – I always look for organic ingredients.
- 4 cinnamon sticks (I recommend breaking them in half)
- 1 Tbsp. dried orange peels
- 2 Tbsp. dried ginger root
- 1 Tbsp dried clove buds
- 1 Tbsp. dried allspice
- 4 star anise pods
You can also add essential oils in place of ingredients or to strengthen the scent.

Directions
Place items in 8 cups of water and simmer for as long as you like! I usually simmer for about 2 hours.
Always be safe with simmer pots! Do not leave unattended, and keep children and pets safe.

I already have this on my stove, and my entire house is 1,000% cozier. Thank you so much for this! I thank you. My nose thanks you.
Oh my gosh, yes. I am so doing this. I love fall scents, so this will be perfect.
I definitely need to make this potpourri for Autumn, I bet it smells divine while making it!

A simmer pot sounds awesome. I need to share this with friends as a substitute for air fresheners.
I have never done a simmer pot before but I bet this smells amazing. I am definitely going to be trying this out in my home
A fall simmer pot sounds like such a lovely way to bring seasonal warmth into the home. I love how simple ingredients can make the whole house feel cozy and inviting.
I am not sure I completely understand simmering pots! They sound interesting, but I don’t know if I want a pot going all day.
This is my absolute favourite type of scent, esp with the cinnamon and orange. I’ve never thought to do a simmer pot, I’d worry about how long the scent would linger for, but I bet it smells incredible while it’s on the stove x
This is a brilliant idea….I can’t wait to make it, who can resist the fall scent, I love it….
I love how natural and simple this is! We’ve actually been trying to cut down on the use of chemicals at home, so I’m definitely going to give this a try. Thanks for the tip!
