The Best Herbal Teas for Relaxation

I drink tea every day, and it is nice to wind down in the evenings with a tea that helps me feel more relaxed. There are a lot of great options for teas that help you with relaxation and sleep.  There are many popular teas, while others are less common.

I alway try to opt for an organic version, and either unbleached paper bags or loose tea.

Chamomile

Chamomile tea is a very popular and commonly used herbal tea known for having relaxing benefits.  It has a lovely, mild taste and is a nice way to wind down the day with a cup of tea.

Lavender

Lavender is also widely known for helping with stress and relaxing. It is often diffused as an essential oil or in household products (from laundry detergent to linen spray), but also makes for a wonderful tea!  Both the taste and aroma create a calming effect.

Valerian

Valerian root tea is a stronger option, and can help with relaxation and sleep, as it has sedative properties. It has a more herbal taste that some may not like, but it is a good option for when you are looking for a true sleep aid.

Linden

Linden tea also has sedative properties, and is another useful herb for using as a sleep aid.

Peppermint or Ginger

Peppermint and ginger both have great health benefits, and can be useful if you are looking to settle an upset stomach or help with digestion before bed.

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm has been used for a variety of health benefits, and is a nice option for its calming effects as well as relaxation.

Passionflower

Passionflower can help you to relax, and is another herbal tea that has been around for centuries. It is often used to lessen anxiety and help aid in better sleep.
