One of my favorite ways to make some extra spending money is by using my phone!
These are, from my experience, the best apps to earn money while shopping at all your regular stores.
You are literally earning cash from using your phone with very little extra effort.

I have personally tried these and can tell you honestly that they totally work.
The best part is, they only require a few minutes of work and the rest is done for you.
These are all extremely user friendly and I have made a significant amount of extra cash just by using these passively for every shopping trip, and when you’re a stay at home mom, every bit counts.

IBOTTA
Ibotta is awesome because it uses no coupons, it’s entirely based on cash back after you complete a purchase.
I don’t know about you but I hate using tons of coupons when I go to the store, I will totally use them but I still don’t like it.
You don’t even have to open the app when you’re in the store, just check Ibotta for cash back opportunities at whatever store you’re planning on going to, then after making a purchase, upload a photo of your receipt and Ibotta will send you cash back on whatever items match within 1 week.
Ibotta is currently connected with many of the major grocery store chains.

RAKUTEN
This one is probably my favorite because, as a mom of three small children, I do a ton of online shopping.
It is a cash back website that refers you to online stores and services, so whenever you are about to make a purchase just go through Rakuten first and you can earn cash back!
It’s like free money if you were going to make the purchase anyways.
You just have to click directly through the link on the website or it doesn’t work.
So, since I have the memory of a goldfish, I installed the Rakuten button extension on my computer so whenever I’m about to make a purchase on any website, a little bubble pops up asking if I’d like to activate cash back on that purchase.
Um yes please.
There is also an app so if you are making a purchase from a mobile device you can go through the app as well.

SHOPKICK
Shopkick gives you free money simply for walking into a store. They work based on rewards points called “kicks” which you then trade in for cash. 250 kicks = $1. You can earn kicks by:
- walking into retail stores
- making a purchase with a linked card
- scanning barcodes for specific products
- purchasing products and scanning the receipt
Once you get enough kicks, you can use them to redeem for gift cards to tons of different places!
Now for those that prefer online shopping (like me!), they also offer kicks for:
- visiting online stores
- viewing select products
- making mobile purchases
- watching videos

CHECKOUT 51
Similar to Ibotta, Checkout 51 allows you to upload your receipt after a purchase in order to get cash back.
You can use their app to search for deals and opportunities for cash back in grocery stores in your area.
Once you make the purchase, scan your receipt and you receive your first check after hitting $20.
I can honestly say that Checkout 51 is so similar to Ibotta and I personally prefer Ibotta.
BUT you can choose to use both apps to maximize your savings if you are good at checking both apps before you go shopping.
